Meet Dr. Colin Dunn, The Surgeon Who Actually Listens

Specialized training in foregut & esophageal surgery
Patients travel from Nevada, Arizona & the Bay Area
Smaller incisions, faster recovery, lasting results
HIS STORY

A surgeon who actually listens and then fixes the problem.

Dr. Colin Dunn didn't set out to become a foregut specialist because it sounded impressive. He chose it because too many patients were stuck in a loop of medication after medication, symptom after symptom with no one explaining why, and no one offering a real solution.

He completed his medical training at a top accredited program and went on to specialize in foregut and esophageal surgery the area of medicine that covers GERD, hiatal hernia, difficulty swallowing, and the conditions most patients are told to just "manage." Dr. Dunn disagrees with that approach.

Today, NorCal Integrity Surgery is the only practice in Northern California dedicated exclusively to gut and foregut conditions. Patients travel from Nevada, Arizona, and across the Bay Area not because there are no other surgeons but because Dr. Dunn takes the time to understand the full picture before recommending anything.

When he's not in the OR, you'll find him making educational videos for patients who want to actually understand what's happening in their own body. No jargon. Just honest, useful information from a surgeon who genuinely cares.

"Most patients come to me after years of taking pills that only mask the problem. My job is to find the real cause and when surgery makes sense, to fix it the right way."

PROCEDURES

Minimally invasive surgery
for lasting results.

Every procedure is performed laparoscopically whenever possible smaller incisions, faster recovery, and less time away from your life.

Anti-Reflux Surgery

A personalized surgical option for selected patients with proven GERD or reflux-related anatomy.

Hiatal Hernia Repair

Hiatal hernia repair is surgery to bring the stomach back into the abdomen and repair the enlarged diaphragm opening, often including an anti-reflux procedure.

Fundoplication

Fundoplication is a surgical procedure used to treat chronic acid reflux and hiatal hernias by reinforcing the lower esophageal sphincter.

LINX Procedure

A laparoscopic surgery using a magnetic ring to augment the lower esophageal sphincter and treat persistent acid reflux symptoms.

Heller Myotomy/POEM

Heller myotomy and POEM are advanced procedures that treat achalasia by dividing tight muscle at the lower esophageal sphincter to improve swallowing.

Gallbladder Removal

Gallbladder removal is usually done when the gallbladder causes pain or complications. Most surgeries are laparoscopic, using small incisions for faster recovery.

Hernia Repair Surgery

A hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall. Surgery restores the tissue and strengthens the area using open or minimally invasive techniques.

Colon Surgery (Colectomy)

Colectomy is surgery to remove part or all of the colon. The colon is the large intestine that absorbs water and forms stool. Surgery is recommended when other treatments are unsafe or ineffective for conditions like diverticulitis or colon cancer.

Esophageal Surgery

Esophageal surgery includes operations to treat cancer, severe acid reflux, hiatal hernia, swallowing disorders, and strictures.

Stomach Surgery (Gastrectomy)

Stomach surgery, or gastrectomy, involves removing part or all of the stomach to treat cancer, with reconstruction to allow for continued digestion.

Abdominal Wall Repair

A specialized surgical approach to rebuild and reinforce the abdominal wall for complex, recurrent, or large hernias using mesh and advanced techniques.

GPOEM (Gastric Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy)

GPOEM is an advanced endoscopic procedure for refractory gastroparesis that helps the pylorus relax, allowing stomach contents to pass more easily to the small intestine.
PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

Medicine built on honesty.

Dr. Dunn believes integrity belongs in medicine more than almost anywhere else, and that means telling patients the truth, even when it's not what they hoped to hear. Too many patients arrive here after years of being dismissed, handed another prescription, or told their symptoms were just stress.

Dr. Dunn takes a different path: find the root cause, order the right tests, and give patients a real plan. That's what low-agony care looks like, a practice that removes stress from every step, from scheduling to recovery.

He listens first. Your symptoms, your lifestyle, your history, before anything else.
He explains clearly. No medical maze. Just plain English, no jargon.
He only recommends surgery when it makes sense. Not every patient needs an operation, he'll be honest either way.
He stays with you through recovery. Post-surgery, the team checks in until you're back to normal.

The science behind every surgery.

Dr. Dunn stays current with the latest research so every procedure you receive is backed by evidence, not habit.

Real people. Real results.

Dr. Dunn was kind, professional, and very caring throughout my experience. Before my procedure, he took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood what to expect. He also followed up afterward and explained everything thoroughly, which gave me a lot of reassurance. I truly appreciated his professionalism, compassion, and the way he made me feel comfortable and informed throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Dr. Dunn!

I'm so greatful to Dr. Colin Dunn for my 270 degree fundoplication and hernia repair. I've had 13 difficult years of GERD and LPR following my first pregnancy. I had tried western medication (PPIs) as well as naturopathy (HCL supplements) and a low acid and low fat diet but my issues continued to progress over the years until my LPR got so bad I was coughing after everything I ate no matter how light/healthy it was. I'm so happy there was a solution and that it worked! Only a week or two after surgery I was starting to eat things I couldn't before like peanut butter, chicken soup, and milkshakes. When I added peanut butter to my oatmeal and ate it my 9-year-old daughter started crying because she knew her momma was going to be okay. This surgery honestly gave me my life back. Before, I was starving and going insane with fear and worsening LPR, and now I can eat anything I want and get my strength back to raise my kids and have some fun! The interactions with his assistant were great as well and the pre-op and post-op experiences were clear and helpful. I also felt that the nurses at Good Samaritan were great. I would definitely recommend doing your surgery with Dr. Dunn because you are going to get talented people and all the best tech. Now time to go eat some cake for Mother's Day!

Dr. Dunn was great and made me feel instantly comfortable. At age 55 and having my first surgery, I was nervous; but after our meeting I knew I was in good hands. Post surgery and recovery has been fantastic and successful! I highly recommend him.

I have suffered from GERD for years, and was determined to get off of PPIs (omeprazole) which I had been taking for years. Dr. Dunn and his staff navigated me through the process of testing and eventually corrective surgery which removed the need for me to be on any medication for this issue, aside from an occasional Tums. Nobody wants to have surgery and recovery, but they made it as easy as possible for me and the recovery was not difficult. Dr Dunn is amazingly knowledgeable and was with me all the way.

Dr. Colin Dunn is truly my hero. I was admitted to the hospital from the emergency room on May 6, 2025, with a ruptured appendix. From the moment Dr. Dunn walked into my room, he showed genuine kindness, compassion, and even brought a much-needed sense of humor to a stressful situation. He clearly explained the findings from my CT scan and walked me through his surgical plan in detail, scheduled for the next day. What stood out most was his passion for his work and the calm confidence he carried, not only in explaining the procedure to me but especially in reassuring my wife that I would be okay. Dr. Dunn quite literally saved my life. I cannot thank him enough, but I am forever grateful for his skill, care, and dedication. I highly recommend Dr. Dunn for his exceptional surgical expertise and compassionate bedside manner. He truly has blessed my life. Thank you Dr. Dunn and your medical team.
